The BMW MOA 40th International Rally will be held July 19 - 22, 2012 at the beautiful Missouri State Fairgrounds in Sedalia, MO. Entering the grounds will surely put a smile on your face as you view the acres of green grass and mature trees that highlight this 326 acres site. All five of the Exhibitor buildings, the Beer Garden building, Closing Ceremonies Arena, Seminar Rooms, and several of the restaurants on site are air conditioned. Cool air makes folks smile. The RV camping spaces have full service hook ups and all of the fairground roads are paved.
Why Sedalia? Located at the junction of U.S. Rte 50 and U.S. Rte 65 Sedalia is within a two day ride of a majority of our members. This West Central Missouri city is 1.5 hrs SE of Kansas City (think Barbecue and Blues), 2.5 hrs North of Branson (think shows and shopping), 1 hr NW of Lake of the Ozarks (powerboats, restaurants, resorts, shopping), and 3 hrs West of St. Louis (Gateway Arch and Anheuser-Busch). Missouri is the Show Me State and getting to Sedalia from any direction is sure to be an adventure. Lots of great riding on and off pavement. You may opt to take one of the many ferry crossings along the Mississippi river or stop in Hannibal to see the fence Tom Sawyer painted. The wine country along the Missouri river is a must see if you like great roads, good food, and wine. Missouri is known for its many caves and caverns including Meramec Caverns also known as a Jesse James hideout. You may wish to stop in St. Joseph and tour the Pony Express museum and the Jesse James home. Maybe you'll stop in Springfield, MO and spend a few hours at the Bass Pro Shop Headquarters and Museum. Did we mention the great riding? Makes one smile for sure. Historical buffs may want to stop in Fulton, MO and tour the Winston Churchill museum and have your picture taken next to an actual section of the Berlin Wall. Did we mention Missouri barbecue? Another smile on the face. We could go on, but, you get the idea. No matter which routes you travel to Sedalia an adventure awaits!
